Giulio Romano
Publisher: Electa Milano 1989. TEXT IN ITALIAN. This scholarly monograph is an expanded version of the catalogue of the Giulio Romano exhibition at Mantova (Mantua), Italy in 1989. This volume provides, for the first time, a full and thorough account of Guilio's art and architecture. Giulio Romano (c.1499-1546) "was an Italian painter and architect. A prominent pupil of Raphael, his stylistic deviations from high Renaissance classicism help define the 16th-century style known as Mannerism. Giulio's drawings have long been treasured by collectors; contemporary prints of them engraved by Marcantonio Raimondi were a significant contribution to the spread of 16th-century Italian style throughout Europe." -Wikipedia. "...... indispensable for anybody interested in one of the most erudite masters of the Italian Renaissance." -The Art Book. 609 pages with hundreds of illustrations in color and black-and-white, chronology, bibliography, and index. Size in slipcase 11-1/2"tall X 10-1/2" wide X 2-1/8" thick (29cm X 25cm X 5.5cm). Weight 8 pounds (3.65kg). A near fine condition hardcover with just a touch of soiling to the pale-yellow colored paper-covered boards, with a clear plastic wrapper cracking at the folds, and encased in a very good condition, very lightly bumped and soiled slipcase. The interior is clean, tight and sturdy with no writing, underlining or other marks. First Edition Very Good Hard Cover Very Good 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall
